What is a proposal?

A proposal is a formal suggestion submitted to the blockchain’s governance system for changes, upgrades, or decision-making. Proposals can cover various topics, such as:

  • Protocol upgrades (e.g., software updates or feature additions)
  • Parameter changes (e.g., adjusting staking requirements or fees)
  • Validator governance (e.g., slashing penalties or validator set changes)

Once submitted, proposals go through a voting period where validators can vote for, against, or abstain. If a proposal meets the required voting threshold and quorum, it is approved and implemented.
